Archbishop McHale Soccer Tornament - 22/04/2016: The 5th and 6th class boys and girls had a very enjoyable day today at the annual Archbishop McHale College soccer tournament. We entered two boys' teams and a girls' team. Our girls reached the quarter final and eventually lost out on penalties. One of our teams of boys narrowly missed out on the last 16 stage while the other team finished the tournament in 3rd place. Well done to all our players. Thanks to Archbishop McHale College for doing a great job of organising the event and thanks to all who came along to support our boys and girls.
Mini 7s Football County Finals (Boys) - 21/04/2016: Our boys performed superbly in today's Mini 7s Football County Finals. They won their three group matches and qualified for the semi-final where they overcame a strong Bushypark NS side. They were beaten in the final by Clarinbridge NS on a scoreline of 2-7 to 1-5 but they can all be incredibly proud of themselves for the performances they gave throughout the day. Very well done lads!
Music Lessons: After school music lessons with Padraig Carr now take place in the school hall every Tuesday evening at 3.10 p.m. Children have an option of playing the tin whistle, bodhrán, keyboard or button accordion. The children are really enjoying the lessons and all are welcome to attend.
Inter Schools Hurling - 18/04/2016: Our hurlers played their first group game of the Inter Schools Hurling Blitz in Abbeyknockmoy this evening. They were beaten by a single point by Monivea NS on a score line of 3-4 to 3-3. It was a great game of hurling and well done to all involved. The boys will be in action again next Monday at 4 p.m. when they take on Crumlin NS. We wish them the best of luck.
Mini 7s Football (Girls) - 18/04/2016: Our girls performed very well in the Corofin section of the mini 7s competition in Belclare today. They won their opening two group games but a loss after extra time in their third game meant that they finished 2nd in their group and narrowly missed out on a place in the final. Nevertheless, we are very proud of them and they will have gained a lot from the experience. Well done girls!
