Mini 7s Football (Boys) - 14/04/2016: A big congratulations to our boys who won the Corofin section of the Cumann na mBunscol Mini 7s competition in Belclare. Three wins in their group saw them qualify for the final where they had to work incredibly hard to win after extra time. They now progress to the Cumann na mBunscol Mini 7s County Finals on Thursday, April 21st in Loughgeorge. Thanks to those who came to support the boys.
AIB Football Blitz - 13/04/2016: The boys and girls in 3rd class really enjoyed the football blitz in Belclare. They were all really excited to meet Colm Cooper also. Thanks and well done to all involved in organising the blitz.
Swimming Lessons: Swimming lessons will commence on Friday, April 8th for the children from 1st to 6th class.
Mini Olympic Handball - 07/04/2016:Our senior girls performed excellently in the u-13 mini Olympic handball County Finals in Knocknacarra on Thursday, April 7th. They won their opening two games and progressed to the semi final where they were narrowly beaten in extra time by a golden goal. Very well done to all involved.
Confirmation - 06/04/2016: Congratulations to the 6th class pupils who made their Confirmation in Corofin church on Wednesday, April 6th. It was a very enjoyable occasion and we are very proud of the children. We hope that the children and their families had a great day.
Literacy Lift Off: The children in first and second class started the 'Literacy Lift Off' programme on February 29th. This is an intensive six week programme of reading, writing, phonics and comprehension, which gives the children lots of opportunities to read books daily at their own level of competency. It has been very successful up to this point and hopefully each child will continue to reap the benefits by increasing their literacy confidence and advancing his/her reading level in a supportive environment.
Proclamation Day - 15/03/2016: Thanks to all who made Proclamation Day such an enjoyable occasion in our school today. Very well done to all the children for their participation. They were fantastic. Thanks to all those who took time out of their day to come and celebrate this historic day with us. Thanks to County Cathaoirleach, Peter Roche, for joining us in our celebrations and a big thank you to all staff members and anybody who helped out in any way to make the day such an enjoyable and successful one. We are, as always, incredibly grateful for your support. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
Raising of National Flag - 15/03/2016: Tuesday, March 15th marks a historic day for all primary schools across Ireland as they raise the National Flag presented to them by members of the Defence Forces earlier in the school year. Our ceremony here in Annagh Hill N.S. will commence with the raising of the flag at 12 p.m. This will be followed by the playing and singing of Amhrán na bhFiann, the reading of the 1916 Proclamation and the reading of Proclamations of a New Generation compiled by our students. We will also have Irish music, dancing, songs and poems performed by the children and they will exhibit history and art projects that they have completed. We will have some refreshments after the ceremony. All parents, grandparents, family members and people from the local community are welcome to share this historic occasion with us.
Return of Ms. Grealish and thanks to Ms. Ryan: Ms. Finola Grealish will return from maternity leave on Monday, March 14th. The Board of Management, staff, parents and pupils of the school would like to thank Ms. Orla Ryan for her dedication and commitment to the pupils of the school since September. We wish her every success in her funtrue teaching career.
Raffle in aid of St. Oliver's Special School: A raffle for Easter Eggs will take place on Wednesday, March 16th. Tickets are €2 each or 3 for €5 and can be bought at the school up until next Wednesday. The proceeds will go to St. Oliver's Special School in Tuam as a token of appreciation for the care and support given to the family of the late Ciara Collins.
